今回は、日本ではあまり聞くことのない、アメリカのカントリーミュージックのジャンルで2000年ごろにヒットした、Lee Ann Womack の　I Hope You Dance を紹介します。

そして、歌の中に数か所出てくる接続詞whenの基本 について説明します。

接続詞　When　　~したとき、～したら、~の場合

イディオム・重要表現

take ○○for granted  :  ○○を当たり前に思う　当然のことと思う

例）　we should not  take clean water for granted  　きれいな水を当たり前と思うべきではない

least : little, few の最上級　最も少ない、最も小さい
resistance : 抵抗、反抗、妨害

あんなに待ち焦がれていた留学生活なのに、とてつもなく日本の家族が恋しい。
得意だと思っていた英語が通用しない、わからない
ホームシックの中でよくラジオで流れていた曲がこの曲
当時はさびのI hope you dance の部分しかわからななくて、メロディーが好きで聞いてたけど
20年以上もたった今、歌詞を調べて、改めてこの歌を聞いたとき、涙がこみ上げてきました
